Coopers Inn, Melbourne CBD by Bureaucrat

Christmas work lunches can be a bit of a gamble.  Very rarely is the lunch about the food (sacrilege!) but more about getting out of the office and throwing back a few.  Plus, as there are many people, the aim is to pick somewhere that, hopefully, will cater to as many of peoples' food and budget preferences.

Thus, this is how I found myself at Coopers Inn.  The menu is fairly extensive but is comprised of your typical pub grub dishes, such as the beef pie and mash...

...the massive chicken parma (is it me, or does that look like Australia?)...

...poached chicken salad w roast pumpkin, beets, fetta and spinach w balsamic reduction...

...and my steak sanger, which was rather underwhelming.  Not only was it served late (to the point that we all thought the kitchen had forgotten about it), the steak was dry and tough.  I liked the addition of the fried egg but everything else was kinda meh - from the tired mesclun, the schmear of tomato chutney and the pre-made chips.

I reckon the actual pub (drinks) is better than the food.

Verdict: we wouldn't return.

Overall
The food was rather meh - this was the consensus among everyone.  For the price you're paying (most meals are in the $18-$22 price range), the quality wasn't there.
