Midori, Blackburn by Bureaucrat

On a quiet Sunday, the Lawyer, Boy Chick and I took a leisurely stroll around Blackburn village. In search of a late lunch, we were on the hunt for a cafe.  While none of the cafes that were open were enticing for us (and naturally, the enticing cafes were closed), we spotted Midori.  Located in a side street that's just a smidge away from the main shopping strip and just that little less visible, Midori is an unassuming Japanese eatery.  The premises is small, with only a few tables inside and on the pavement.  A family run affair, there was a steady stream of people coming in to pick up their takeaway orders - indeed, it appeared to be the only eatery in the area that was commanding such popularity among the locals.

Midori, Blackburn, seafood udon
My seafood tempura udon was nice and piping hot. I liked how it had lots of seaweed threading through the noodles.

Midori, Blackburn, unagi don
The Lawyer's unagi don was simple but good.  Lots of grilled eel on a bed of rice.

Verdict

We liked it
We liked it.

Overall

While we both enjoyed our meals, we both thought we should have ordered some sushi.  Looking at the prices, the sushi seems a bit more pricey than most suburban sushi places (e.g., a handroll is around the $3.50 mark) though I'm guessing that it's quite nice given the number of people ordering it as their takeaway.
