A short little post this will be. Before heading out to dinner at Hutong Dumpling Bar, we followed Ms C up the stairs in Curtin House to get to the Toff in Town for a celebratory tipple or two.
I had never been to the Toff before even though it’s right in the city and near where I work. While we only had drinks there (they also serve food), I love the place. It’s atmospheric with intimate carriages where you can close off with the sliding doors and curtains.
Coupled with the red mood lighting and cushioned harlequin panels, you feel like you’ve gone back in time to a more glamorous era (and here I am, in my work clothes and backpack).
The bar area is sleek and retro – with an eye-catching burnished gold bench top and accents, mirrors and lots of natural sunlight coming through the frosted windows.
There’s a mix of hipster barmen (both friendly ones and ones that have a bit of attitude) are behind the counter waiting to serve you your poison.
Verdict
Drinks – 7.5
Atmosphere – 9
Service – 7
Price – 7
Overall
Next time, I’m going back for more drinks and some food. I love the vibe of the place. On the day we went, we even had some grannies next to us who were totally rocking the scene.
