Picture this: azure blue sky overhead; black sediments of volcanic rock underfoot; sugar cane fields on either side; a truck parked in the middle of nowhere by a twisted leafless tree casting it's shadows like gnarled fingers on the road. I was having my Anthony Bourdain moment, I was street fooding, Mauritian-style.
This food truck is not surprisingly nameless. However that does not mean it is not infamous. I have nominally called it Solitude Food Truck as it is located in the aptly named suburb of Solitude to further highlight that one is in the middle of nowhere. Try googling Solitude Roti, or Solitude Faratha, it is clear that others have gone before and opinion of it is high. Locals come screeching to a halt in their cars for a bite. Likewise the locals come on foot. Ladies undulating with loads on their heads emerge from the horizon to queue up for a pair or two of the farathas.
The plain roti is $8 Mauritian rupee which is about 30 cents Australian. I ordered the vegetarian roti which was $14 Mauritian rupee and approximately 80 cents Australian.

They have a tuna version for $16 Mauritan rupees. I must admit, it was the best roti I have ever tasted. It was flakey yet substantial and the vegetarian bean mixture inside was mushy but in a comfort food sort of way.
Verdict
We loved it.
Overall
These guys make one thing - roti, and they make it very well. It is worth a drive around to try and locate them. They informally pack up and leave around 2pm everyday so it's worth hunting them down for lunch.
Find it at
I had tried sourcing an exact location but wasn't able to obtain a fixed address. The truck can be found in the suburb of Solitude on the only main road from Solitude leading into of the suburb of Triolet. It is an isolated part of the world between sugar cane fields. However if you begin to see locals on foot in an otherwise deserted road, follow them as chances are they are going there for lunch.
