Steak sandwich - surely the most delicious way to get some iron into my diet...and greens....and reds!
Biggest healthiest fiddle leaf fig over ever seen.... and what a room!
It's so beautifully designed; light and airy but it still somehow manages to be cosy and warm in the middle of an icy Melbourne spell. I love the greenery throughout. We didn't sit on the couch by the fire, but I'd love to come and hang there some time - would be a gorgeous place to sit and eat and drink and catch up with friends while overlooking the green of the golf course.
The deck that's just waiting for some sunshine
We sat overlooking the lovely decking, with the lake and Grand Prix track (ummm road) in the background. There's even a swinging chair you could snuggle up on with blankets on the deck - something I'll keep in mind for better weather days to come.

Greenfields describes itself as an 'urban city sanctuary.... a community aimed at improving guests health and wellness from the ground up'. I was a little nervous that, surrounded by a lot of beautiful people, and a few local celebrities, I'd not fit in. Worried the food would be too healthy! I so shouldn't have been concerned!!!
Gold cutlery is so on trend and looks fabulous to go with that fabulous hot chocolate
Coffee - the crockery, table and tiles! Yes please!
My hot chocolate and Ms Marathoner's coffee were served in lovely mugs, that tied in beautifully with the matte European inspired tiles. As a non coffee drinker, I'm a little picky with hot chocolates. My hot chocolate was perfect - warming and comforting and not too sweet. Ms Marathoner's coffee hit her coffee spot!
Lovely little posy
The menu is full of wholesome options - 90% of it is healthy. Given how often Melburnians brunch this is probably a good thing. The millet porridge cooked in coconut water with coyo vanilla cream, dragon fruit and burnt almond brittle is apparently rather popular, and Sassy's Whole In One (aka big breakfast) was very tempting, as was the green machine omelette with Berber spiced zucchini and feta mash, broken tomato drizzle and life bread. If it wasn't Antarctic out there I would have tried the gourmet greenhouse heirloom tomato salad with goats curd, basil and white balsamic juice - I'll be back in summer for that one.
Because it was so cold we went for the slightly less green options. The steak sandwich with beetroot, mustard greens, baby onions and aioli is the best steak sandwich I've ever had (see first pic). It's redefined steak sandwiches!! The steak was tender, so tender, and full of flavour. It was so beautifully balanced by the other elements. It was so satisfying, and while it's one of the less healthy dishes, it felt winter wholesome delicious!
The jerk chicken, mango and relish panini was fresh and again well balanced. The zing from the relish elevated it beyond a typical panini. The bread had a good bite to it and it had the right amount of yummy chicken filling. A side of zucchini fries with aioli finished it off nicely.
Zucchini fries with aioli
The service was good - helpful, friendly and discrete. The space is large so the tables are well spread out giving a sense of privacy and peace even when busy. It really would be a divine event space - a dream to have a party at!! In my Scandi-inspired beautiful people dreams! I think Greenfields succeeds in creating a sanctuary so close to the city.
The Eat and Be Merry Crew were guests of Greenfields Albert Park.
Verdict
Overall
A gorgeous oasis overlooking Albert Park Lake - fit for the beautiful people and the fit people...but also those of us who are less fit and beautiful! The food is worthy of the lovely space and service. I look forward to revisiting!Find it at
