Kiddo settled down for her regular of seafood curry laksa ($17.90). As far as laksas go, it was on the pricier end but having said that it was a decent sized bowl (more than plenty for a child) and plenty of seafood pieces and tofu and eggplant.
My father in law, also a lover of laksa, went for combination laksa ($12.50), this came with a medley of chicken breast pieces and seafood.
I was intrigued by an item on the specials board. It was homemade silken tofu with mushroom and vegetables ($17). Never to turn down homemade versions of tofu, I gave that a go with a side of rice ($2.20). The tofu was divinely tender and silky and featured a light egg batter to hold it all together for the sautee. It was served with heaps of broccoli and snow peas as well as disturbingly thick pieces of mushroom. The mushrooms, which I think were oyster ones, were a little too mature and had a slight bitter metallic edge to it. It marred an otherwise perfect dish.
P settled for one of his usuals, Ipoh char hor fun ($11.90). These were thick ribbons of rice noodles stir fried with an egg-y gravy. A true comfort food.
We couldn't go pass the five spices calamari ($8.90) as any calamari fried is a wonderous thing. These were crispy and not too oily.
Kiddo also had a random plain roti ($4.90) but there was really no need for it for she was more than adequately fed with the laksa.
Verdict
Overall
Whilst laksa is what most people go to 4 Seasons Laksa for, their other dishes with a Malay-Chinese bent are also solid contenders. This family business has us coming back for a quick mid week meal. Quick service, good food. That's what you want from a local.Find it at
