As Obelix is all gung-ho about fermented foods and tries to stick to a vegetarian diet, I took her along. She had previously visited Street Organics on her own and raved about its sweet treats and kombucha products. Obelix chose the vegan big breakfast, which for $20 is immense value. The breakfast itself has organic smashed avo with homemade baked beans, sauerkraut and a side salad. It was served on sourdough (or gluten-free toast with no further charge). The big breakfast also includes your choice of a hot drink and also a smoothie.
This is the tumeric and ginger latte (served with honey or agave) that Obelix chose to go with her breakfast. I just got a pot of ginger and lemongrass tea.
And here is the green organic smoothie that came with the breakfast.
I went for the vegan curry ($14.50) which was served with brown rice (and for an extra $2 you can get it with cauliflower rice). There were lots of chunky veg (broccoli, zucchini, carrots, tomatoes, onion and celery) that still had a nice texture to them (i.e., it wasn't a mushy curry). The curry itself was mild.
Owing to a bit of a mix-up, the staff treated us to a complementary caramel slice. This was really rich! Full of coconut undertones and caramel flavour, with a thin crumbly base and a smooth-as chocolate top.
Verdict
We really liked itOverall
Street Organics is very accommodating to people with dietary needs. The food is tasty and doesn't come across as being overly hippy-dippy food. Given the quality of the ingredients, the menu items are quite well-priced.Find it at
