Although Elements is located on Collins Street, it's actually not visible from the street. It's tucked away inside/behind the office building that has the same street address. Having walked through the building, I discovered Elements, which has a lovely English garden of boxed hedges, topiary trees and colourful, pretty flowers surrounding it.
The place has a peaceful air about it and you can choose to sit inside the main cafe or the part where it's like a conservatory with the glass windows and walls.
Menu-wise, it's a fairly typical cafe-in-an-office-building stuff - a range of sandwiches, pastries, hot food (bain marie) and coffee. I went for Mediterranean chicken. A massive chicken breast that was pan fried and cooked quite nicely considering how thick the chick breast was. While it did come with some veggies (sort of a ratatouille) and salad (a bit limp and soggy), I was rather hoping that it came with some carbs (e.g., rice, potatoes).
The Lawyer went for the lamb souvlaki. It wasn't a real souv - but it was nonetheless tasty (tastier than the chicken). Pan fried cubes of lamb with shredded lettuce, red onions, tzatziki on a pita. Simple and tasty.
Verdict
Food – 6.5
Service – 7
Ambiance – 7.5
Price – 6.5
Overall
The food is okay but nothing exceptional. I'd go there more to enjoy a cuppa in the pretty surrounding garden - it's like a little oasis of calm in the middle of the city.
