Fugazza, Melbourne CBD by Big Fil

Ms Snooze was interested in soup and a quick Internet search led us to Fugazza, a soup and focaccia shop located in one of my favourite laneways, Equitable Place. As per many of the eateries in the area seating inside is limited but the style of food is well suited to take away, offering a variety of sandwiches, soups, or a combination of each.

Fugazza is apparently a regional style of foccacia and was lighter and fluffier than most that I've tried. My choice was a serve of the pork sausage focaccia and also the chorizo and bean soup, pretty decent value at $10. The bread was very good, the sausage of good quality too, meaty rather than overly fatty. The soup though I found somewhat overpowered with a stronger hand with the pepper than I really like, especially on a warmish Spring day.

Snooze opted for the same meal deal but the chicken schnitzel focaccia and broccoli and zucchini soup. Our discussion afterwards was brief but Snooze indicated she had the same issue with too much pepper in the soup, and was less enamoured of her sandwich than I was.

Overall
I liked our lunch here as it was quick, the service was friendly, the prices and food reasonable. If you are looking for something tasty and not too heavy for lunch and you're in the area you could do a lot worse.

Verdict
Food – 7 (focaccia 8 but soup 6.5)
Service – 7.5
Ambience – 6.5
Price – 7.5
