Brown Cow, Hampton by Snooze

Big Fil and I started the weekend early with an 8am breakfast date at Brown Cow in Hampton and we weren't the only ones with the same idea; Brown Cow seems very popular with the many bike riders along Beach Rd.

I arrived a little before Phil so I found us a spot as close as possible to one of the open fires, and still with a view of the outside eating area and the street.

We were asked three times for our drink order, which arrived shortly after being asked a third time. (Our water on the other hand never arrived). Big Fil's hot chocolate arrived with what must be Brown Cow's signature ... the cutest cow on the top. A nice touch.

Big Fil and I are both fans of muffins and Brown Cow baking muffins on the premises was a definite draw card ... the muffin of the day was chocolate orange. The muffin was light and fluffy and chocolatey, but I didn't detect any orange.

Big Fil opted for the pancakes with butterscotch sauce, honey and almond ice cream. The pancakes were of the light and fluffy variety, and the sauce and ice cream were nice. (As usual Big Fil hit the jackpot of the food ordered!)

I went with cinnamon French Toast with caramelized banana, maple syrup and bacon. The banana was exactly as I like it. as was the bacon. What was hard was the French Toast wasn't "eggy" as I expected it, and came drenched in maple syrup ... way too sweet for me so early on the morning. I would have liked the maple syrup on the side to adjust to taste.

Overall
Brown Cow's in a great location to appeal to bike riders along Beach Rd, and handy to public transport. Our breakfast wasn't bad, but improvements like maple syrup on the side and
remembering orders would improve the overall rating.

  1. That's a very cute hot choc. Is that a layer of chocolate (the dark brown layer that's between the milky chocolate bit and the foamy bit)?

  2. It was a layer of thicker, darker chocolate milk.
