Cafe Vue at the Heide, Bulleen by Obelix

It was a beautiful Sunday which got us all inspired to go for a traipse to the Museum of Modern Art at Heide.  Nothing better than a feed up at Cafe Vue then a walk around the parkland to chillax and admire the sculptures.

It was good timing that Rick's BBQ was in operation at the time of our visit.  We sampled a few things from the BBQ and kiddo had the standard kid's picnic lunch box from the cafe. Nothing smells better than a BBQ and our mouths were watering watching our order being prepared.  You can opt for  'take away' and your BBQ lunch would be packed in eco boxes for you to take on a picnic in the park.  We chose to sit down in the al fresco area instead.

I ordered the wagyu burger.  It was done medium rare.  So juicy with a crispy char.  I like how it was not overly soggy with mayo or relish.

I didn't order the Merguez sausage and the feedback was that it was incredibly delicious but a bit on the weeny side.  He said he could have at least fit another one of those in, easy.

We spied other diners having the handcut chips and of course we could not resist ordering our own bowl.

Kiddo had the lunch box with chicken salad in a crunchy baguette;  carrot sticks with avocado dip; fruit pieces and a petit four as dessert.  She was happy and it was just the right amount of food for an 8 year old.  It came in a sturdy cardboard box so she was able to take some of her lunch with her to eat in the park.

Verdict - we liked it alot.

Overall
The above meal came to $43 including two drinks.  I think it's good value for decent food in a pleasant surrounding.  Also have a look at Bureaucrat's review back in May 2012.
