STREAT Dinner Party Giveaway

Unfortunately I didn't hear from Jess by lunchtime Monday and I've had to draw again ... this time the lucky winner is Cathy {tinniegirl}.

Fortunately Cathy has an email address attached to her profile so I've been able to email her.

I look forward to hearing from her about the night, maybe later in the week.

Thanks for playing.

The lucky winner of the STREAT Dinner Party Giveaway, as drawn by my youngest Miss C, was Jess who wrote "Love the blog, and the Streat party sounds great!"

I can't contact you using your profile so please drop me an email at susanlhorne (at) hotmail.com and we can arrange for you to pick up your ticket.

If I can't get in contact with Jess by Monday I'll draw again.

Enjoy your weekend.

Promoting an event is a first for Eat and Be Merry, but since it's in such a good cause (the STREAT Dinner Party) I quickly agreed.

I don't know if you've heard of STREAT before but it offers Melbourne's homeless youth with a pathway to long-term careers in hospitality through running street cafes. For around six months they learn hygiene, kitchen etiquette, how to cook, and how to follow a recipe.

Eat and Be Merry is a fan of STREAT. We blogged back in February about the temporary STREAT cart at Federation Square. And I'm lucky this time around to be able to:

  • share the details of the STREAT Dinner Party; and

  • offer one lucky reader of Eat and Be Merry a double pass to the event.

I should tell you something about the STREAT Dinner Party before the giveaway.

On Tuesday November 29, up to 500 diners will meet in a Melbourne's CBD for a 3-course dinner with wine--but the location will be a surprise on booking. To whet your appetite a lot of amazing places will be involved: bars such as Gin palace, Madame Brussells, Cabinet Bar, Palmz, Loop, Bar 1806, Sister Bella's Pony fish Island and High Society, while restaurants presenting a signature 3-course include Punch Lane, Seamstress, Il Solito Post and Izakayaden. The infamous thousand Pound Bend is even creating a pop-up restaurant for the evening.

Diners will also receive a signed copy of Flavours of Melbourne, valued at $70, which features photography, local history, street art and recipes from iconic restaurants, and a ticket to the after-party at a Melbourne night club.

And all proceeds on the night will go to help STREAT purchase a new street cart.

If you're interested in attending I suggest you book soon, especially if you want to go as a group. Tables of up to ten can be accommodated.

But if you're feeling lucky I have a double pass valued at $300. Leave a comment (one only per person) and a lucky winner will be drawn randomly on Friday 25 November at 7pm. The ticket we made available for collection on the night of the STREAT Dinner Party.

PS Spread the word. This is such a great cause.

    9. It sounds absolutely brilliant! I actually stumbled upon a similar enterprise when I was in Vietnam and was impressed by what they had managed to achieve. Hopefully STREAT will continue to grow in Melbourne and beyond!
