Parkers, Parkdale by Big Fil

Parkers is one of those cafes that is a local favourite but maybe isn't well known outside of its area. When you want to check it out though it does have two added bonuses that not all such cafes have, being very close to Parkdale Train Station and a 25% discount available courtesy of this year's Entertainment Book.

The weather on the day we visited was cold and a bit miserable so fortunately we had booked an inside table. The place was also pretty full, so if we hadn't booked we may well have been looking for somewhere else to try.

Decked out in earthy browns and well lit, it ticks the box for being a nice place to eat on a Saturday morning. Service was friendly and fairly efficient.

The Eggs Benedict looked and tasted good, the eggs fluffy and the bacon crispy.

Being really hungry, I went for the Parkers equivalent of the big breakfast, the 'Starvin Marvin'. This comprised scrambled eggs (normally fried) on Turkish style bread, hash browns, mushrooms, fried tomato, chorizo and bacon. The best part was the scrambled eggs, light and fluffy, just how I like them. While I'd have liked the chorizo to be a bit more spicy, the rest of the breakfast was also pretty good.

The last dish sampled was the pancakes with berry compote and maple syrup. While the berries could have been a bit more generous, and the pancakes a bit warmer, still no real major complaints.

Overall
Food, service and price are all what you would expect from what is obviously the most popular breakfast spot in the area. Another very good but not outstanding local cafe.

Verdict
Ambience - 7.5
Service - 7
Food - 7
Price - 6.5
